The Intervention

The Intervention

SYNOPSIS

It’s been ages since Tom Garret has set eyes on his childhood home where he and his brother Mathew were raised – and it is here that young Tom witnessed an unspeakable horror.  But Tom has resolved to push aside his troubled past after an anxious phone call from Matt’s wife, Abbey.   Alcoholism has taken over the life of Matt Garret.  He’s become obsessed, abusive and paranoid.  An intervention is the only answer.

At first, the forceful intervention seems to be making headway.  But as the night wears on, what appears to have been an obvious case of alcoholism reveals itself as demonic possession.  A dark entity surfaces and methodically turns the group against each other, taunting them with their deepest secrets.  Tom being the primary target.

THE INTERVENTION is a psychological/horror film that will challenge one’s faith in the true powers of good and evil.  The mind has many doors and what you see may not be fact.

PROJECT STATUS

THE INTERVENTION was shot entirely on location in Ojai, California.  The house used, was a stone structure, built by the owners, which gave the film an isolated quality it needed to put our characters in jeopardy.  Inspired by physiological/horror films such as Rosemary’s Baby, Don’t Look Now, and The Shining, THE INTERVENTION was shot on 35mm film.

THE SCRIPT:  Shannon Hile and Richard Eden are the screenwriters of the original screenplay THE INTERVENTION.  This is their third collaboration.  Their first script The Prince of Montmartre (formally This Journey called my life), was a semi-finalist in the Nicholl Fellowship and the Austin Film Festival.

THE DIRECTOR:  Shannon Hile makes an auspicious debut as director of THE INTERVENTION.  Her background as an actor (Execution of Justice, Monk, The X-Files, Shopgirl, The Late Mr. Pete Show), has given her the opportunity to work with several prominent directors.  Having directed for the Los Angeles Art Theatre, which she co-founded, and writing/directing/acting for the sketch comedy group On the Off Ramp in Toronto, Shannon shifted her interest to film.  Her passion for 70’s character driven horror films inspired THE INTERVENTION.

THE DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY:  Kurt Brabbee’s credits include; Blossom Time, The Crow: Wicked Way, Megalomania, Psycho Sushi and Blue Shadows.

VISUAL EFFECTS:  David H. Watkins has worked on such prominent films as The Omen, Alien, The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Batman and Robin and Ali.  He is currently working on the Showtime series Dexter.

THE EDITOR:  Eric O. Schusterman’s film Somebodies was in dramatic competition at both Sundance and AFI.  Eric has worked on such films as Factory Girl, Friends with Money, 8 Mile, The Jackal, Last of the Mohicans and Nell.
